Program Day 3

20th Mar 2020

Today we spent most of the day doing free play. It is amazing to see what the kids come up with when they have time and space to be creative.

Their eyes were hardly open when they started playing with Lego. Kids can build the most amazing inventions.

Fine motor

Building puzzles. For babies you can take a picture and cut it in half. Show them how putting the two halves together you make a complete picture

A general guide to round about what size puzzle kids can build at what age:

  • 1-2 years: 3-5 pieces
  • 2 years: less that 10 pieces
  • 3 years: 11-20 pieces
  • 4 years: 21-30 pieces
  • 5 years: 31-49 pieces
  • 6 years: 50-100 pieces
  • 8 years: 101-250 pieces.

Remember that this is just a guide and depends on how often they build different puzzles as well as how much they enjoy it.

We did some sheets of work, which they enjoyed. First was listening to instructions. Colour the block above the bear in red etc. Then match the colour to the number. Nr 1 yellow, 2 blue etc.

Foundation phase: Colour the letters in his name.

Toddler: Maze and making the same amount of circles.

We made little faces. The kids had to cut the kit kats themselves to make the hat.

We spent alot of time riding on bikes, scooters and learning to ride on skateboards. (They can’t quite do that yet, so for now they are practicing their balancing skills)

We did some stick and pull which was fun for all 3 of them.

They enjoyed drawing and made cards for everyone they could think of. They also played outside for hours just having fun.
