Slime

We love messy play! All the different textures can be so much fun. We incorporate it in our weekly program. Our colour of the week was red and shape circle. I try to focus on a different one each week. I tried to make the slime red, which came out very pink. I think its from the soap, as I added more colour than I ever have and still it was pink.

It is easy to make and only uses 2 ingredients (3 if you want to colour it):

  1. A soap bar. (Sunlight, lux whatever you have available)
  2. Water.
  3. Food colouring

The hardest part of this is to grate the soap. You need 1 cup of soap (grated), as you need it to dissolve in the water. Add 1 litre of boiled water and mix. (You can also now add the food colouring) Let this mixture stand until it has cooled down and it will then form a beautiful slime.

We started off with cups (all circles) and ended up painting the floor with it. The great thing about this slime is that because it uses so much soap, the food colouring didn’t stain our skin at all.
